About Overrun
The short version
Overrun exists because an unbelievable amount of perfectly good building material goes to landfill in Australia for one reason: there’s no easy way for the person holding it to move it on. The offcuts, the over-orders, the half pack of tiles at the end of the job.. too good to bin, too annoying to store, so it rides around in the ute until it ends up at the tip. And then someone two suburbs over goes and buys the same material new.
That always seemed mad to us. So we built the missing piece: a marketplace just for leftover building materials, where the person browsing is a tradie or renovator actually looking for what you’ve got.
Who’s behind it
Chelsea and Jaryd, and the reason the ute never stays empty.
Overrun started with my husband, Jaryd. A Sydney-born, Melbourne residing chippy with 22 years on site. He’d come home filthy about what went in the skip that day.. good timber, unopened packs, brand new fittings, buried because there was no easy way to move them on and no time to muck around with Marketplace.
I’m Chelsea — I am, and do, the other half. After hearing about one skip too many, another bigger storage unit that he just had to have, I stopped sympathising and started building.
It’s self-funded and built from scratch here in Melbourne.. no investors, no growth team, no offshore support desk. When you hit report on a dodgy listing, it comes to us. When people in the trade groups said occasional sellers shouldn’t need a monthly plan, it went on the roadmap. This thing gets shaped by the people using it, because the people building it are actually listening.
What we care about
Good materials shouldn't be landfill.
Every item that finds a second home is money in a seller's pocket, a saving for a buyer, and one less thing in the ground. That's the whole point.
Straight answers.
No inflated numbers, no fake reviews, no pretending it's bigger than it is. It's new. I need listings. I'd rather earn trust than borrow it.
